Editor’s Note: We’re hella late. Life gets in the way sometimes.

Hiya everyone, Noreen here. This week’s Top 5 is going to be on the Top 5 DC Superheroes.

DISCLAIMER: Please note this list is purely based on my opinion, and does not represent the opinions of anyone else on UzerFriendly.

Number Five: Huntress

Huntress_Bertinelli

Huntress is the daughter of a mob boss. That automatically makes her interesting, not to mention her attitude. She’s pushy, bossy, but cunning too. I like reading comics that she’s in, but there’s something about seeing her animated has just a bit more whimsy that I love. She’s one of those superheroes who have no powers-looking at you, Bat family- but is still just as helpful as one with powers. Who needs super speed or strength when you have a crossbow? Huntress also is a part of one of my OTP’s, so I have to give her props there. Ah, Huntress and The Question are just great, aren’t they? It’s just something about Huntress that I enjoy so much. Is it the brash attitude she has? Maybe the way she can kick butt with just her might and crossbow? Whatever makes her get on my top list doesn’t really matter. The entirety that is Huntress is what I love. She seems so real. She isn’t that charterer that can just get away with making rash decision without any permission. She gets in legitimate trouble for her choices. She’s as real as you and me. That’s why I love her, now that I think about it. Unfortunately, she just barely misses the fourth spot on my list.

Number Four: Martian Manhunter

martian_manhunter

Can we all just take a second to appreciate Martian Manhunter? Thank you. He is literally the most powerful character in the DC universe in my mind. I always loved characters who could shape-shift, but I never really knew of any until I actually started reading comics. Once I learned of the existence of the great Martian Manhunter, I got really into it. I love the fact that he’s just so intellectual and serious, but has his moments of warmth. Does it bother anyone else that he stays up in the Watchtower all the time? You’d think the almighty power that is Martian Manhunter would actually go and kick some booty. I mean, I get that he isn’t really up to humans, but come on. The power is so freaking real, I barely ever got to see him kick booty in “Justice League and “Justice League Unlimited“. No matter what, he is an unique character that has a special place in my heart.

Number Three: Black Canary

Black_Canary_

Black Canary is the Goddess of my life, I swear. She’s one of the most kickass characters in DC history. She is honestly everything I want to be in a person. She stays so cool under pressure, can beat many of the DC superheroes in a fight no questions asked, and have you seen her costume? It’s amazing. The first comic I read with Black Canary in it was “Black Canary and Zatanna: Bloodspell“. Now don’t get me wrong, I liked Zatanna a lot as well, but there was something about Black Canary. Was it the whole mysterious and sultry aura she had around her? Or was it the fact she was Green Arrow’s love interest? When I found out that Green Arrow had a love interest that actually was more than a damsel in distress, I just knew I had to look her up. So maybe the love interest thing was what got me to look into her but why I stayed was how well developed and interesting she was. I started reading “Birds of Prey“, which included even more characters that I enjoyed but Black Canary was always the one I really cared about. She was who I was always on the edge of my seat to read about. There was always something about the character that made me so happy. Also, the canary cry is really cool. I mean, come on, it’s the power of yelling.

Number Two: Aquaman

aquaman

Now Aquaman is my personal favorite superhero of all time but he isn’t the best, you feel me? I love him to bits, but he just barely misses the number one spot. Let me talk about why he just gets second best. The “Aquaman” comics were the first comics I ever really read and the reason I love comics so much now is because of the first issue in the New 52. “So how does it feel to be everybody’s least favorite superhero?”. That was one of the first things I ever read in an Aquaman comic, and it really made me feel for the character. Being the underdog is something this is pretty attractive for a personality trait, because at one point or another we’ve all be there. Also, I feel like Aquaman is just a powerful hero. He’s been proven to beat Superman, after all. I’m not going to go into much more detail only because I have already ranted on and on about how much I love Aquaman in his own  special article. The only thing I have to say at this point is the fact that Aquaman is super underrated but will always have a place in my heart.

Number One: Green Arrow

greenarrow

Oh, Green Arrow, you are bae. Yes, I used the word bae. Fight me. Anyways, if any of you have watched “Justice League Unlimited“-and I’m near positive you have- you’ll understand why I love Green Arrow so much. Hes’ the cocky but heart-of-gold character that every group needs. You’d think The Flash would take that role, and he does, but Green Arrow has just an extra something that makes him not only the best DC hero, but the best character of his kind. As I said before, I love Black Canary, and now you see that I love Green Arrow too. Are you seeing what I’m getting at here? If you need help, let me explain. They are canon. They are in a romantic relationship. Some of my two favorite superheros are together. That makes my love of the two stronger. Honestly, that may be why Green Arrow beat out Aquaman. Actually no, that’s not why. Like I said, it’s the cocky heart of gold. I’m guilty of loving that sort of thing. After watching “Justice League Unlimited“, I started to read his comics. The comics kept me hooked just as much as I would with any other. He’s humorous and speaks his mind. That’s a good character in my mind. I’ll admit that sometimes he can get a bit Mary Sue-y, but more often than not he’s an amazingly developed character. Green Arrow truly deserves the number one spot.
