No, Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct didn’t feature The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. But, the February Nintendo Direct featured plenty of news and surprises.
Here are the five biggest reveals from Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct:
Splatoon 3
Splatoon 3 has no release date. But, Nintendo did announce a release window of summer 2022. The Nintendo Direct also featured the return of co-op to the multiplayer shooter: Salmon Run Next Wave.
Nintendo Switch Sports
Fans of Wii Sports are sure to be excited for the series’ return with Nintendo Switch Sports. The game will feature several classic games from past titles, as well as new additions like soccer, badminton, and volleyball. In place of the Wii Remote, players will control their character using the Joy-Con controllers. Nintendo Switch Sports launches April 29. But, players will get the chance to try it themselves during an online play test Feb. 18-20.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 debuted at Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct with a release window of Sept. 2022. The JRPG series from Monolith Soft and Nintendo sets the tone for the latest installment in the franchise, with a cast of new characters and numerous locales.
Earthbound & Mother
EarthBound has finally escaped the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The cult classic JRPG, as well as EarthBound Origins, will be added to Nintendo Switch Online.
