Golduck was released in the first generation (kanto) and is the secondary evolution to Psyduck. Psyduck evolves into Golduck at level 33. It was number 055 in the national Pokedex and is strictly a water type Pokemon. In the Alpha Sapphire Pokedex entry, it states that “Golduck is the fastest swimmer among all Pokémon. It swims effortlessly, even in a rough, stormy sea. It sometimes rescues people from wrecked ships floundering in high seas.” And in the Omega Ruby, “The webbed flippers on its forelegs and hind legs and the streamlined body of Golduck give it frightening speed. The Pokémon is definitely much faster than even the most athletic swimmer.”
Sadly enough, there are no prominent movesets for Golduck as of right now, and due to never using or setting up one before, I don’t have any kind of movesets or battle idea to give you for XY or ORAS. However, there was an old set that was designed in the days of B&W and it was pretty useful. That set was Leftovers, with the ability Cloud Nine and a Calm nature. The moveset would be Calm Mind, Substitute, Surf, Signal Beam. But Signal Beam can also be replaced with Ice Beam if that’s what you really want on it. The E.Vs would be 196 HP/ 176 Special Defense/ 136 Speed.
This set was for the NU tier and if you use it, I hope it does well for you! I really like Golduck. I don’t really know why but I’ve always liked its interesting design. Hope you guys enjoyed this week’s Pokemon and I’ll see you next week!
