Elden Ring is such an open ended game that it’s really easy to completely miss the places that you can get incantations and sorceries early on. In this guide I’ll walk you through not only how to find the spell trainers for each, but also how to get a seal and staff as early as possible so that you can actually cast them if you didn’t start out with one.
Lets start with sorceries.
How to learn sorceries in Elden Ring
- Make your way over to Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave. You’ll find it around here on the map:
- Find the stairs leading down to a basement hidden in the center of the ruins.
- Defeat Mad Pumpkin Head. (Tip: Stagger him with two fully charged strong attacks. While he’s staggered, press yourself against the right of his pumpkin head and hit light attack to preform a critical hit.)
- Unlock the Site of Lost Grace that spawns in the boss room so you can warp back later.
- Go through the door in the back and talk to the lady wearing a statue head. Tell her you want to learn sorceries.
- Tip: Buy the Glintstone Pebble for a powerful spell that you can use with only 10 Intelligence.
How to get a staff to cast sorceries
- Rise south to the Weeping Peninsula and head west to the Demi-Human Forest Ruins.
- Defeat the Demi-Human Queen that casts sorceries on the north edge of the ruins. (Tip: She’s easy to defeat by circling around and swiping at her on horseback.)
- She drops the Demi-Human Queen’s Staff. (Note: You need at least 10 Intelligence to cast sorceries with this staff.)
Now lets talk about incantations.
How to get a seal and learn incantations in Elden Ring
- First, head to the Roundtable Hold.
- The fastest way to unlock this is by running up to Stormveil Castle, dying to Margit the Fell Omen, and sitting at the Site of Lost Grace. Melina invites you after either doing this or sitting at a Site of Lost Grace in a new zone.
- The guy wearing the cloth robe and a blindfold is the prophet that teaches you incantations. Admit to him that you see the Guidance of Grace to gain access to his shop.
- Tip: Purchase the Flame Sling incantation. It’s one of the most powerful incantations in Elden Ring and can be used with only 10 Faith.
- To get the seal, head down the passageway next to the prophet and go the the back room.
- Purchase the Finger Seal for 800 runes. (Note: You need at least 10 Faith to cast incantations with this seal.)
Remember to memorize your spells at a Site of Lost Grace in order to cast them!
